BELIEFS
We hold to the historic teachings of Christian orthodoxy as articulated in the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed. Though we have certain convictions on secondary theological issues, our heart is to welcome all those who differ with us, without compromising primary theological issues of the gospel.
We believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. As such, it is our final authority for all of life and our final standard of truth.
We believe there is one true God Who exists eternally as three distinct, but co-equal Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, suffered and died on the cross, rose again three days later, and ascended to heaven. The Day is coming when He will return again to judge the earth.
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God and lives within every born-again believer. He empowers us to be witnesses for Jesus to the earth, while convicting of sin and enabling us to live holy lives. All the gifts of the Holy Spirit continue today and are to be desired and pursued as part of the normal Christian life.
We believe every person is sinful by nature and by choice. Therefore, we are all justly condemned and under God’s righteous wrath.
We believe Satan is a created and real being in whom there is no good. He actively seeks to enslave, oppress, kill and crush God’s people and he opposes all that is good, right, true, and just.
We believe there is no salvation apart from faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation cannot be earned or worked for; it is a free gift that Christ has purchased. Christ calls all who would be saved to repent of their sin and put their faith in Him.Â
We believe that every person will die and afterwards face judgment before the throne of God. Those who have accepted Christ will be with Him and enjoy Him forever. Those who have rejected Christ will suffer eternal punishment in hell, separated from God.
We believe that the universal church consists of all of God’s people everywhere, for all of time. The church continues Jesus’ work on the earth by preaching the gospel, discipling believers, saving the lost, caring for the poor and marginalized, and transforming culture.
We believe that God has made many promises to the Jewish people in His Word that were never rescinded and have yet to be fulfilled. Therefore, though believing Jews and Gentiles exist together as one people of God, the Church has not replaced Israel.Â
We believe that baptism is for those who have professed faith in Christ and is a necessary act of obedience for those who follow Christ. Through baptism, we are publicly identified with Jesus, buried with Him in His death and raised with Him in His life.
We believe that communion is a necessary act of obedience for those who follow Christ, where we receive spiritual grace and nourishment, enjoy Christ’s presence, and declare His return.
We believe that men and women were created to compliment one another. Though they are equal in their value and dignity, God has intentionally made them to fulfill different roles.Â
We believe that God’s only design for marriage is the union of one man and one woman for life. This is the only union God recognizes and the only place where sexual intimacy is blessed by Him. Â
We believe that all people are made in the image of God and therefore have equal and inherent value, from the moment of conception, regardless of ethnicity or gender.
